University of Art and Design Helsinki

The University of Art and Design Helsinki was founded in 1871, is an international university specialized in the fields of design, audiovisual communication, art and art education. A pioneer in fields of exceptional research and education, the University seeks to make significant contributions to the commercialization of design and media innovations and their further development into topmost international products.
At the moment, there are 1880 students enrolled in the University, majority of them on MA level i.e. 1100 and 200 doctorate students, 18,4 % of which come from abroad, with 800 students in the studies of Open University and 1700 students in continuing education studies. The personnel consist of some 160 professors and full time teachers, 400 part-time teachers, 50 researchers and some 200 other employees.
The University is the largest art and design education and research institution in Scandinavia and has a strong and active international presence. It engages in very diverse cooperation with business life both in Finland and abroad ranging from activities of research, product development, and business development services to providing state-of-the-art training services and production and conference facilities.
